FAQs for New Kindergarten Parents
Welcome to River Dell Soccer! -- Registration Fee is $85 -- Register Your Child Today! - 2009 Kindergarten Soccer Starts Saturday, September 12th @ 1pm.
Can my child be in a Transitional Kindergarten class and enroll in RDSA’s Kindergarten program?
Transitional/Preschool Kindergarten children are not eligible for the RDSA Kindergarten program. To participate, children must be Oradell or River Edge residents who are enrolled in a K- 6 school Kindergarten class.
When is Kindergarten soccer? How long is the season?
RDSA offers a Kindergarten program for each town. The River Edge program will be held on Saturday afternoons 1pm to 2:15pm at KBG FIELD. The time and location in Oradell will also be: Saturday afternoons, 1pm to 2:15pm, located at DOUG PARCELLS ATHLETIC COMPLEX. The soccer season for all Kindergarters will be 7 sessions (weather permitting) and it normally ends in late October -- rain outs may cause us to extend the season. Kindergarten will meet once a week (Saturday afternoons) there are no practice sessions during the week.
The cost of the program is $85 per child (you can save $10 PER FAMILY if a family member becomes an RDSA volunteer for the season) -- see Volunteer Opportunities.
What equipment do I need to buy?
For each registered child, River Dell Soccer provides a logo #3 size ball (the only size allowed) and a team uniform which includes team soccer jersey, soccer shorts and soccer socks. You must purchase for your child: shin guards (required) and soccer cleats (optional).
For safety reasons, NO FOOTBALL OR BASEBALL CLEATS ALLOWED! For every child’s protection & safety - We check every player at every session for soccer cleats (sneakers accepted ) and shin guards -- *Your child will not play if they do not wear shin guards, soccer cleats or sneakers. Please come prepared, it’s not fun to see disappointed soccer players...and parents!
How is the program organized?
Your child will receive the best soccer education available! RDSA’s program is supervised by UK Elite - Professional Soccer Educators. We will follow UK Elite’s Step2Success training program. The program is designed to be a child’s first experience learning soccer. The entire course is structured for children to learn soccer while playing fun games designed around specific basic soccer skills. Parent coaches will organize the teams and help instruction during the sessions. A UK Elite professional will be dedicated to a pair of teams throughout the entire season. The trainer will get to know your child (and the coaches) and give personal attention to your child’s soccer development. For more information, visit the UK Elite Web site.
